Which processor should i buy?

Hey guys i am planning to upgrade my processor next month i want that processor which is good for gaming cause i am a gamer…first i decided to go for AMD atholon x2 250,there was nothing on my mind about going intel until my frnd showed me the rating of best processors and AMD can’t stand upto it…I am confused plz tell me which processor should i go for…hows Intel i5..i can’t go for i7 cause its way too expensive…
My pc config is:
Processor(currently):amd x2 4800+
what country you live:India
Cash:6000-7000
upgrading:processor+motherboard
what are you looking for after upgrading:increased gaming performance and speed of course.
Graphic card(currently):nvidia xfx 9600 gt

i3 or i5 they are awesome ( if you can’t afford i7), also AMD Phenom II is amazing!

The one you were looking at is a weak cpu. I’m guessing you don’t have much money to spend on this? Are you prepared to buy a new motherboard and ram too? What you need to do in order to get help is post the following information. 1:your complete system spec, including motherboard socket type/model etc and if you can post the details of your psu /make/model/power rating
2: How much cash you are looking to spend on the upgrade. 3:what you most want to see improved after the upgrade. 4:what country are you in? Nobody can answer your question 100% without this info.

If you want to go for a i5 cpu you will also need to buy new ram. The ram you have wont work.
You should also know that a mobo/cpu upgrade only, while it will make your games run better. It’s not going to be a large improvement. What ram do you have right now?

YOu have old PC… You need to change motherboard if you want to use i5, and also if you use i5 and new motherbaord you will need new memory….

You should be looking at a AMD phenom II cpu with a board that supports ddr2 667mhz ram..probably a AM2+ board.
