which graphics card?
August 5th, 2016
ive narrowed it down to these two cards, due to my budget, and i was wondering which one would be the better card to buy, please help me
do i need a lot of cooling or even a new power supply to run the 8600gt???
According to Tomshardware, the 7900gt seems a better choice.
Compare your cards (and many other cards) here:

Good luck mate.
7900gt because you have a limited budget..
8600
7900gt i would chose, the 8600 appears to be interesting becaue of the directx 10 but becaus it gives such an bad performance you shoudnt chose it.
but if you are really smart go for the ATI 3850/3870 gives way better performance and should be cheaper also xD.
ati 3870?
i thought nvidia is better..
i thought nvidia is better aswell, thnx for the info guyz but i wnted to know if the memory clockspeed is important?
cause some cards have 1.2ghz and some 800mhz so i wnted to know if it makes a big difference?
I know that the 8600GT can easily beat a 7900GT, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the 8600GT will be a little better than the 7900gt. I know without looking at specs that in newer games the 8600GT will always win because it has over four times the shader processing power which is becoming increasingly important. The only bottleneck is the memory bandwidth. But remember, you can always go SLI later if you have an SLI board.
You might want a 512 mb of the 8600 gt version for boost in performance:

8600GT..
Well, it really depends on what you want the graphics car for right? I am using the 8600m GT and its frickin awesome, has shared video ram of 1gb when the other resources arent being used!
If you plan to buy an 8600 gt you might need to buy a new one, but im not so sure. Although, said, the 7900Gt outbeats the 8600gt in performance. If i were you, i think i’ll save more money to buy an 8800gt
but if i had to buy one NOW, as a temporary solution i’ll stick to the 7900gt, IF you want to buy nVidia. Nevertheless, the ATI’s are doing great performances, and that ati HD3850 has a great Price/Performance ratio.
The clock speed is VERY important m8, even more than the memory. So you need to check that.
well about the clockspeed it really depends on the core of the graphics card. the clock speed can be like 700mhz but an card with an better core can beat it at 400mhz as example. nvidia has the best performance yes. but the ati 38xx series out perform the cards of their price range what is around 180$. and for info DON’T go for the 8600 less performance and you can use the dx10 becaus it is an bad card.
mine advice go for the price/performance king the ATI 3870
ive checked the vga charts and it shows that 8600gts is betta than 7900gt but the 7900gtx is betta than both of them
so ill have a luk around

i have the msi nx7900gtx.512mb ddr3..its totaly a freaking awesome videocard..ddr3 dx9 ore dx10 in vista enything will play on maxout settings….this card is to good but oke its cost arround 400 euros new.
i dont know how much $$ it will be.
i would go for the 8600GT, its performace is better then the 7900GT. But if you are on a tight budget, worth just going for the 7900GT.

It would recommend the 8600 GTS as the prices r in the same range.. by just spending a few buck more u’ll get a 8600 GTS. I’ve got this card n it’s performing well with CoD4 CRYSIS…
the 7900gt outperforms the 8600gts -_-
My 8600m GT Nvidia is inside of my Asus laptop and I can play anything on any setting and it runs smoooth.
