Which graphic card should i buy?

May 1st, 2018

Hey guys,
My main purpose for buying a graphic card is that I can play the 720p and 1080p videos properly on my comp.
My budget is around Rs 3000 ( approx 70$ )
My computer configs are :-

Intel Pentium 4 , 2.66GHz
512MB DDR RAM
320GB HDD
Intel 82865G Graphics Controller

Please note that i am not buying a graphic card for gaming, since i am not a gaming guy.
I only want my 720p and 1080p videos to play very smoothly on my comp.

I’d need to know your motherboard model first as it may have an AGP slot.
Provide screenshots from CPU-Z (Mainboard tab & multiple from SPD for each slot):

Also,You’d need to add more RAM,512MB doesn’t cut it!
What windows are you running btw?
Answer #2
Add another gig ram.
Any decent card would do the job although, I’m not sure about which graphic card can choose just to play HD movies.
For that price, I think you can get a decent graphic card to play HD movies.
Although, Please do take suggestions about graphic card but you definitely have to increase your RAM no matter what.

What will i need to play videos smoothly?
Graphic card or more RAM ?
I can only afford any one. I cant afford both graphic card as well as RAM.
PS :- If you read my post , I already have a Intel 82865G Graphics Controller , isn’t it sufficient to play HD videos?
Answer #4
Gigabyte GT220 around $75
Answer #5
i doubt you will be able to find any decent graphics card or RAM with a budget like that. Wit an old CPU like that, you have to remember that HD wasn’t too popular back then so i doubt the gpu can handle HD now

First of all check out CoreAVC before getting a new card. I honestly wouldn’t waste any money upgrading such a computer

Major overhaul. CPU is not fast enough. Back in the days, they say a AMD Athlon 3000+ or faster is recommended.

You have this mobo:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775i65G
It has an AGP slot for video cards which is a dead standard,PCI Express
took over years ago,AGP cards are no longer being manufactured
so your not gonna find any in stores,Just on ebay,IMO you’d be
best saving up more money and eventually buy a brand new PC,But if you
insist on upgrading this one I’d say upgrading the RAM will be
more doable,Just get 2X 1GB DDR400 (A.K.A PC3200) sticks,I can’t
say for sure whether upgrading the RAM would help you with HD
video playback as your CPU is quite dated and you got a crappy
onboard video so it’s on you,You could upgrade the RAM and it’d
improve performance,Maybe video playback too,Then again maybe not.

buy a Nvidia 9800GT

you won’t be able to play any 1080 movies. You might be able to play most 720p, however you will get pixelation due to your spec.
