What exactly is a proxy

Hey
Whats a proxy
Thanks

Answer #1
It’s like a gateway, instead of connecting straight to the web, you connect to the proxy server, which then connects to the web. The website you visit will only see the IP details of the proxy server, not your own IP.

Just a Note: proxy servers can be very slow sometimez they can even cut you off in the middle of your download thats if you get a safe proxy!!
Answer #7
Here is an important question that I’d love an answer to – Can proxy servers REALLY definitively keep someone from getting caught while downloading ?
Because if it’s still related to your ISP, can say the FBI still track you down ? ?
Answer #8
most proxy services (90% of them) create logs of everyone who connects to them.
So, in theory it’s possible even using a proxy to trace down your real IP.
If the proxy doesn’t have any logging system, then unless that on the period you are using the proxy someone (like the “FBI) is monitoring it, there’s no way to find out that you’ve used it.
Answer #9
one stupid question
how can i use those proxy lists
where iwrite it or whatever?
Answer #10
Use the proxy for what? Internet browsing (Firefox example)? Image
Most download managers also support proxy’s. An alternative, would be to use an application like HideIP to make sure that every connection that you make to the Internet passes through the proxy.
