Wanna upgrade my processor

Hi guys i need a little help from you folks well i have this board intel 945 and it’s cache is 4.
I have a picture to currently i am running a 3.2Ghz Pentium D processor on it.
But i wanna upgrade it i have heard that i can put core 2 duo and duel core processor on my board from some friends but i am not sure thats why i need your help plz tell me which processor will be best for it.

What’s the exact make and model of the motherboard?

BTW That upgrade wouldn’t be very substantial though. Your maximum upgrade would be a Core 2 Extreme X6800, but it is not a very worthwhile upgrade. Why don’t save some cash and go for Sandy Bridge?

The 945G is a LGA 775 socket MoBo, but that doesn’t mean It can support the Core 2 duo processor.
945 MB doesnot support. 965 Support Core2Duo.

Time to invest on a real upgrade.
You need at least 3 parts.
CPU, Motherboard, Memory.

Kind of a waste of time, the board will be cooked fairly quickly for its age.
