It’s a vista system i am using, sorry for not mentioning that, the link is for xp. Device manager shows the dvd is working properly, it’s a dell laptop, i guess it’s plugged in properly, think i tried opening this dell laptop once but i can’t it have a certain screw that can’t come out, so i didn’t try to open it again, in case i mess it up @edwood
What should i try now?
is just the Icon showing up or are you getting a pop-up message ?
like a “it’s safe to remove…..”
Just the icon…
When i click on safely remove, it goes away, but when i start or restart my system it appears again..

Is that Icon Appears also in the taskbar or not?
It appears in the task bar only…
It appears in the task bar only...
down by the clock ?
so no error or message, it’s just there
can you rt click in that area and hide it if you don’t want to see it
Yea, it down by the clock. Can’t hide it, if i right click on it, the “safely remove hardware” options comes up, when i click on that, the the properties and stop option comes up, when i click on stop, it stops then it goes away, but if i restart or start my system, it just comes again.
Can't hide it
don’t click the icon, do this
