vista issue

Safely remove hardware icon keep showing up to remove my dvd drive (E) in vista every time i start my system, any fix to this issue? I tried disabling the dvd (E) drive and then enable, same issue. Thanks.

DVD drive work OK ?
is it pluged in securely ?
any problems show in device manager

It’s a vista system i am using, sorry for not mentioning that, the link is for xp. Device manager shows the dvd is working properly, it’s a dell laptop, i guess it’s plugged in properly, think i tried opening this dell laptop once but i can’t it have a certain screw that can’t come out, so i didn’t try to open it again, in case i mess it up @edwood

is just the Icon showing up or are you getting a pop-up message ?
like a “it’s safe to remove…..”

When i click on safely remove, it goes away, but when i start or restart my system it appears again..

down by the clock ?
so no error or message, it’s just there
can you rt click in that area and hide it if you don’t want to see it

Yea, it down by the clock. Can’t hide it, if i right click on it, the “safely remove hardware” options comes up, when i click on that, the the properties and stop option comes up, when i click on stop, it stops then it goes away, but if i restart or start my system, it just comes again.
