Video converters that work like Sony Vegas?

What is the most used and useful video converter that Youtube people use? I can’t really choose well since theres alot of them in google. I currently use Avidemux 2.5 which is free but I think it’s really outdated, total video converter is no-no for me (the suckiest converter i’ve seen!)
I need it for uploading videos on Break.com, Youtube, and other flash video websites if anyone can suggest one thanks!
