Video converter to convert AVCHD files

looking to convert AVCHD files with a video converter
have tried
4videosoft MKV converter (audio and video not in sync)
Aieesoft AVCHD converter (does not let me do more than one second in AVCHD, no probs with other files)
Aimersoft soft *audio and video not in sync)
Would appreciate help from anyone who has tried converting AVCHD files with software that has worked
