Video Card Temp Monitoring Program

August 5th, 2016

I have an EVGA Geforce 8600 GTS DDR3 512MB. I’ve been playing games like Call of Duty 4, World in Conflict, Universe at War and after about 1 – 2 hours of playing them the game just hangs then either crashes, stays frozen or the PC Resets. I’m positive its the video card overheating even though settings aren’t maxed. Does anyone know a program I can use to monitor my Video Card’s temp? I have nTune but its crap.
Answer #1
speedfan(free) or everest(appz section)
my 7600 has static cooling(no fan, just heat pipe from heatsink), would get into the mid upper 80’s ’till I put a case fan pointed at it
stays in the mid 50’s now
yours got a fan ?
also if there is a slot cover next to the card slot, remove it to promote air flow
Answer #2
Mine has a big heatsink and fan on it. According to nTune the GPU1 is at 65 degrees C when idle.
Now I think the GPU1 refers to my graphics card. I can put together a computer from scratch but I don’t know anything about them. I will check these programs out. Thank you.

is there a card next to the fan intake that may be blocking it
I all ways try to keep that slot empty if possible duz you case temp seem high ? very warm air coming out the power supply outlet ?
you may need another case fan

I probably do need another case fan, or since the motherboard has 2 PCI-E Slots I might get a second video card to ease the load.

For nvidia cards, you can’t go past RivaTuner – goto guru3d.com and go to the downloads and get v206
