USB ports cause malfunction on my new pc, installed myself.
August 6th, 2016
Today I installed my new pc myself.
I bought all pieces separately.
Everything but the usb are working fine…
I am plugging in two different external Hds.
Sometimes they work fine…
But sometimes they cause freeze and blank screens.
One interesting thing is that sometimes when I plug in, a “one color” screens appear… if I unplug, windows normalize again. The same thing happens doing the reverse (if it’s plugged and working, when I unplug, the color screen appears. If I plug back again, windows normalize).
Any ideas?
what kind of one color appears?
blue screen?
try installing the proper drivers
Not blue screen… depends on where I was with windows. If i’m in desktop, it just shows my desktop (like if everything were closed).
The drivers are installed using the motherboard DVD.
I didn’t have any BSOD yet about this problem.
you’re probably wrong connected USB on motherboard
There are 2 cables for the USB.
And only two “pins” named Usb-1 and Usb-2
I switched them and still not working. But i’ll take a look better
front USB the problem ?
if you unplug them do the rear USB’s work ?
Just tested.
The two of front, at 100% time causes freeze.
The two of rear sometimes work, sometimes don’t.
I tested only plugging one Hd at time at each port.
The two of rear sometimes work, sometimes don't.
you did this with the front ports disconnected ?
and no freezing with the rear ports ?
Sounds to me like your external drive is busted.
Hdds break if you so much as knock them slightly it can cause displacment and that causes the problems you discribe.
Most likely your external drive is dieing a death and you should back up what data you need from it.
EDIT:Note i say this is most likely scenario, i am not saying that this is deffo what has happened in your system..

I did this with all ports connected.
As I said, sometimes the rear freezes, sometimes doesn’t.

Hdds are fine. Tested in another pc
I did this with all ports connected.
if you disconnect the fronts and the rears work every time it’s either the fronts are connected wrong or wired incorrectly
but if you don’t disconnect the fronts it’s hard to say
