Updating the wii with Wiikey v1

I have a wiikey installed on my wii and I have a ntsc game that requires an update and i’m not sure if I should update because I don’t know if it’ll disable the key or brake my wii? Besides scrubbing the game is it safe for me to update if the game is ntsc?

never update a game outside your region on the wii…but honestly I would NEVER update any game…ive downloaded ntsc wii games that were pal and vice versa etc…
