Unknown file systeem – grub rescue. How fix to boot Windows?

August 6th, 2013

Hey guys,
I had Linux and windows both installed. Every time I boot, I saw that grub menu, but I didn’t want that so I removed the whole partition.
Now when I boot I get the message
Unknown file system
Grub rescue:
I cant boot anymore in windows. I have a kubuntu DVD (11.10) but I want to boot windows again and get rid of the whole grub and Linux.
How do I fix this? Or at least let me boot into windows again?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I MANAGED TO GET INTO WINDOWS 7. NOW I ONLY NEED TO INSTALL THE GRUB AND RESTORE THE MBR (WINDOWS7BOOTLOADER) TO BOOT WINDOWS 7 AUTOMATICLY, WITHOUT THE LINUX GRUB.

Answer #1
boot to your windows 7 disk and try a startup repair
that don’t work google “bootrec” and find a tutorial the shows you how to use bootrec fixboot & fixmbr
here’s one
http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Recovering+the+Windows+Bootloader+from+the+DVD
Answer #2
try this in the commandpromt in the recovery part of the windows7
Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
then reboot.
Answer #3
after that get a boot manager like GAG
http://gag.sourceforge.net/
works very well. you won’t have grub anymore rather it will show you a list of operating systems that you have. it is open source too.
