[SOLVED] Grub Loading please wait… Error 17.

January 27th, 2020

OK. So… I have done some googleing and found nothing that relates to my problem. I have found some on Ubuntu fourms however without internet (drivers for network card) it wont work (re-install grub (yet as im installing a fresh os onto a formatted HDD it shouldent need it anyway))…
I had this HDD (the one which i’ve installed into my system) with media stuffs on it and since I have just got a new 2tb drive I was going to put the HDD back into my PC (and get it working again as its been not needed due to university) However, I formatted the hdd (NSTF or something, the other option was ex-fat) and installed into my PC. When I boot it says:
Boot from CD-DVD : (I think this fails as it boots with ubuntu os dvd but not Windows 7 os dvd)
Grub Loading stage1.5.
Grub Loading please wait...
Error 17.

I have no idea how to fix this. Any help?
Thanks.

Could you explain a little better? Which HDD doesn’t boot? On which PC? Are you using a live linux disk to boot? If so, which one?
Answer #2
I want to use Windows 7 (the only reason I have ubuntu was to check if the PC still worked (this was without a HDD installed and months ago)) I dont underastand why ubuntu/lynux if even involved as nothing was installed
Which PC? I don’t unterstand
There is only one HDD installed. Its a samsung 320GB
IDK which ubuntu it is it was months ago I used it.

So you have inserted a Windows 7 CD to install the OS to an empty HDD, correct? If so, it seems that your PC doesn’t read the CD. See if you have the BIOS settings properly set. If that fails, consider burning the CD again, or try to boot from it to a different device to see if it works.

Yea, the disk was the problem. Thanks [Solved]
