Try that.
“Side-by-side” errors are usually something to do with MS Visual c++ runtimes – either missing some or an erorro of sorts.
So – check you have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Visual C++ runtims for 2008/09/10/11/12/13. – you might get away with just installing 10/11/12/13.
There IS an all-in-one installer online, I’ll try find it for you.

I am on win7 x64.
I uninstalled all versions of visual c++. Also remove all possible files from registry.
Install new one and same error?
Have plenty games, around 30 on my desktop. All works, just this makes problem…

From what I gather, it’s an issue with SoM for many people.
By the way – you should leave the Vis c++ runtime on – many many games need them and they throw up an error that seems nothing to do with Vis C. if it can’t find them.

I did an experiment – killed my system, just for you! (not to worry, I made an acronis image before i started).
Deleted all sorts of crap – MS visual c runtimes 2010, killed off, caused that exact same error (in different programs, including XBMC).
Try finding ms v c++ 2010 AND the sp1 update for it
