I use Core Temp.
It displays the temp in the taskbar.
SensorsView
http://www.stvsoft.com/
Monitors the temperature of your CPU, northbridge, motherboard, VGA and hard disks, as well as voltages and fan speeds (as supported by your motherboard). It can alert you if the values reach a critical level, and also provide a complete overview of the measurements.

Thanks.
I got Everest Ultimate Engineer Edition 4.00.976. Where does it tell you the CPU temp and the fan speed? I don’t see it anywhere.
Choose computer and then sensor, use ultimate btw.
I did that and got a blank grey screen. I use Everest Ultimate Engineer Edition 4.00.976.
Everest or the Gadget in sidebar in Vista
