You’re not giving us a lot to work with
What application are trying to run? What steps have you taken to resolve the problem so far? What are your system specs?
Have you tried a simple re-install for the application?

Windows 8. Trying to run the game “Switchball”. I tried this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtC_UQqssvQ. I tried reinstalling. Tried installing AGEIA PhysX. Specs: Win 8 3.07 GHZ 8 logical cores 4 physical cores, GTX 285, 12 GB RAM. Yes I have tried reintalling.

only way is compatibility mode. If that doesn’t work, I’m afraid it won’t run anyway in win8.
