USB Ports have stopped working

July 29th, 2013

Howdy, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what’s wrong with my old clunker (this time)? For no apparent reason, it seems to longer recognize anything plugged into its USB ports. I’ve done nothing to setting, nor added any software or hardware, so I can’t understand why they’re not working anymore. I’m using MS Windows XP Pro version 2002 Service Pack 3 on an AMD Athlon XP 1500+ with 1.34 GHz, 640 or Ram. My mega computer with 4 TB of harddrive crashed for some unknown reason, and I’m stuck with this old clunker until I can afford to get the newer PC working again, so any advice or help you might have would be appreciated greatly.
Cheers,
-WF

Go to your motherboard manufacture’s website and get the chipset drivers for your model and os and install.

Sorry to sound stupid (but I am), but would my motherboard manufacturer be AMD Athlon? If not, where would I find it? *blush* Also, according to my computer, the drivers are installed, which is weird because it doesn’t recognize any device I plug in as even being there.
Thanks.

If you have a manufactured computer (Dell, HP) go to that website and look up your computer model.
If you have a normal computer, you can look it up with this tool:

But, there is always Google? Is down? =/
