Surround sound on bluray rips?

August 3rd, 2013

I’ve spent a long time downloading full bluray rips off the forum in anticipation for my new surround sound. I have my macbook hooked up to my pc with a mini displayport to hdmi adapter and everything works great.
However, most of the bluray rips, when played in VLC, dont show “Dolby” under audio track. Just “track 1” or “track 1 (english).
Am I doing something wrong or do 30gb mkv bluray rips really not have surround sound? (it’s almost every single bluray mkv I have. One smaller rip of 300 I have has dolby, but that’s the only one).
Thanks!

Looks like it should have 5.1 DTS Audio..
Maybe some settings with VLC or try another player like PotPlayer..

I have a mac. I tried mplayer, didn’t work. Just tried xbmc, working perfectly so far!
