Startup item unwanted and unable to disable nor delete it

August 3rd, 2016

Hey guys, I have a problem. I have this executable that pops up each time I boot the pc that says “unable to find FIFA14.exe” and it drives me crazy. I went to MSConfig and looked what it was. It’s some thing called rpeulaaql.exe and it exists in here: “C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”
Problem is: my access is denied to “Startup” folder and I cannot change owner. What do I do? I ran Superantispyware and AVG already and none found anything there yet I can’t delete it! And each time I de-select it from Startup on MSConfig, it re-selects itself!

Answer #1
Did you try to untick/Apply and restart when you run Msconfig?

Of course I did, it still tick itself back…
Answer #3
The file you mentioned is spyware and has nothing to do with the game FIFA!
I suggest you refer to the following post for advice:

Trying to remove it would be a waste of time. Doing an OS reinstall is the best way to go in these kind of situations.

Let me explain to you: the process rpeulaaql.exe is showing up on the startup as FIFA14.exe and I cannot delete it, that is the problem.
Answer #5
I see. But whether it uses a bogus shortcut/registry name or not that doesn’t change the fact that it’s spyware!
The file name is random, And it clearly behaves like one. I still think you’d be best proceeding with an OS reinstall.

But… but… it’s a pain in the ass! lol that was the last thing I wanted to do.
I may do it. Eventually. I need to buy a backup drive first.
Answer #7
It might be a PITA as you say, But it’s the only way to be safe, So it’s worth it!
Also, Apart from keeping the backup onto a secondary partition/external HDD, You could also
save it to another computer via network file shares, Or use an online backup service (If the data is not too big and you got a decent upload speed)

Try Safe Mode…

Try Safe Mode...
uh huh
Try in safe mode & get rid of it, if that fails, go back into safe mode & use unlocker.
try some of the anti-spyware programs. Run a scan of spybot SnD & see if it finds it.
