Starting a PC Repair Business, Help ?

January 28th, 2020

I’m starting a little business of “PC Repair” here in the city i live in. I know a little more than the basics of repairing a PC from most common issues like viruses or cpu crashes, etc.. So i was wondering if any other technicians out there give me some recommendations of software’s or advice that could really help me out. Thanks very much.

first, you are going to want to start this with more than just basic computer repair knowledge. you will want to know how to trouble shoot hardware and software problems. probably take an A+class and get certified. (at the minimum) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CompTIA
because using google will not give you all the answers.
You will want to use legitimate copies of any software used. (for your own safety.)

I’m self taught and get plenty of clients. Are you going to go freelance or are you doing it for some pocket money ?
Most of it come from experince and google DOES help a lot with most problems I’ve never come across before.

, I wonder what came to your mind that time.
Anyway, see if the local area has any computer shops, competition is near insanity if your store doesn’t stand out.

I just recently started my own as well. First things I created really nice flyers on card stock. Got gold shipping lables so I could print my info on them and stick on computers. Made business cards. Here is my website I did. http://www.slidingscalecomputers.com/index.html I advertise daily on craigslist which has brought customers. I also did free advertisment on local.com yahoo local google local Yp.com yellow pages.com and superpages.com.. As far as software I downloaded untouched version of all microsoft operating systems and use peoples origanl key. I use a key finder for programs they have allready so i can reinstall with there keys. I do use some fixed software to do virus repair driver issue then just unistall them. As for hardware I would get a power supply tester. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16899706001&cm_re=power_supply_tester-_-99-706-001-_-Product I also would get a hard drive sata/ide to usb adapter. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002&cm_re=sata%2fide_to_usb-_-12-232-002-_-Product Get an 18 piece screw driver set from radio shack which has torx tips as you will need these once in a while escpially for xbox 360. Dust remover external drive to copy to. Also a hard drive docking station is a good idea that can clone drives. I also own a universal power supply for laptops. Id go at least 120 watts to cover almost all models.http://cgi.ebay.com/120W-Universal-AC-Adapter-Power-Supply-Laptop-Notebook-/310250922712?pt=Laptop_Adapters_Chargers&hash=item483c6562d8 Other then that keep good files and get a reciept book. I have a single paperwork for them to fill out when they first arrive with basic info name etc computer problems. One good customer service is I always do a one week call back to insure total satisfaction. That should be a good start good luck! Pm if any other questions come to mind.
