Does anyone have any recommendations to get this up and running? I want something to view comics and surf the web. Maybe an occasional movie in dvd quality but nothing major. It is just so slow now adays even with a regular install…..
Thanks everyone!

Linux. I would recommend you a good distro if I knew the specs of your PC.

oh man…..I never even considered that…..I’m going to be honest here, I have only used windows in all of my computing experiences. My cousin is a computer programmer and says linux is the king of all comps and I dont think hes wrong. I just literally dont know the first place to start. When I do get home though, I will get my specs up on here for that comp. As I sit here I think its a T-42 but I dont know the ram in there off the top of my head, it has to be between 512mb and 1 gig i think.

Based on what you all said here, I may install tinyxp and test out different linux distro’s to see whether or not I want to make the switch.
I also found here: http://www.google.com?t=15078659&highlight=
The exact tiny xp revision 11 that you recommended.
But there are 4 different installs on that one????

Yes, they are all explained in the thread (and the actual installation menu). But honestly, unless you already have the drivers issue solved it would be better to go for a linux distibution, it might be a pain in the ass to find the correct drivers for this PC. Don’t worry about the interface, linux is extremely easy to use nowadays.
Answer #7
just want to update you all, I went with tinyxp beast, in all honesty im really happy. Its extremely lightweight, still has the essentials, can run my antivirus with fire wall. It doesnt skip a beat now. In the future I may delve into linux but for now I am happy
Thank you all for the responses!
