[SOLVED] Windows 8.1 BIOS Update

February 1st, 2020

I originally had BIOS version R0142C5 installed with my laptop. There are no options download bios for windows 8.1 pro x64 on sony driver support page.
My Laptop drivers page:
http://www.sony-asia.com/support/product/SVS13118GN
I managed to update mine to R0143C5.0907 by searching for SVS13 version and found this: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=SVS13A190X&upd_id=7843
Although, on their page “Applicable Products and Operating Systems (see full list…)” it does not show my model number. However it displays plenty of Sony S Series, probably European version. My Bios is working normally, so i am assuming this bios is latest and is safe? Furthermore, I was wandering if this is the latest version shipped by manufacturer to consumers or are there any new ones i can update my windows 8.1 bios to?? Screenshot msinfo32:

Just because you upgrade your OS does not mean it requires any new Bios..
If it does, then it would be listed under normal support pages.
Rule 1 is that if it works, don’t fix it..
An incorrect Bios installed could easily brick you laptop!
Answer #2
yeh i never have seen bios updates for anything above windows 7 on me travels
Answer #3
My advice is to only update the bios if you have hardware issues..
Answer #4
In all my 30 years plus messing about with computers I’ve never had to update a BIOS. I did mess about with BIOS updates when Windows XP first came out but that was about learning how to do it rather than out of necessity.
Answer #5
Think of your BIOS like a woman, unless it gets really naggy don’t upgrade without good reason, and make sure she/it comes from good stock (ie manufactures website).
