Help Me Update My BIOS Pls (ASUS LAPTOP)

July 28th, 2013

well here is my problem..i know that updating BIOS is a serious business and im not good with computer stuff…well not that good to play around with BIOS.
ive downloaded BIOS Driver at ASUS website..the problem is the file is .221 form.
its not .ROM
the number basically represents the version of the BIOS. so for the 223 version it shows .223
example: K40IN223.223
from what i googled, the file must be in .ROM ..so im afraid to continue
will anyone tell me step by step procedure to update my BIOS. Thanks in advance.
for more info…just ask.
ps: i try download ASUS Update but i cant. I already run ASUS Live Update but still no different. This older BIOS is causing my laptop heat up easily.
ps: i just reformated my system.

Is there a specific reason to update your BIOS, if not, then leave it alone.
I would say your lappie needs a good clean inside rather than upgrading the BIOS.
Answer #2
i wouldnt update bios unless you actually need to.
and if the bios is locked take the CMOS out

Have you cleaned the heatsink on the cpu and re-applied new thermal paste ?
If you have already sent it to an “Asus Centre to repair”, how come they didn’t flash the BIOS ?
I only cleaned one of my lappies last week, but I bet if I opened it up again there would be dust in it.
What is the exact model of the lappie, and what BIOS is on it at the moment ?

How to update BIOS with Winflash?

the file don’t need to be “ROM”
if winflash accepts it and verifies it then your good to go

I have upgraded the motherboard BIOS on several machines over the years and in no case did I ever notice an improvement in performance. The last time I attempted a BIOS upgrade I met with failure and the Motherboard was left inoperable. My advice is to leave well enough alone because the reward will likely be imperceptible but meeting with failure will leave you wishing you had never attempted the upgrade.
