[SOLVED] 4gb ram in my pc
February 7th, 2020
i have 4gb ram in my pc and it supports upto 8gb ram and it is only showing up as 3 gb in widnows and in my bois is there something wrong???
Thanks
try reseating the other stick to a new slot maybe? Try two sticks at once, i.e you have 4 sticks A, B, C and D. Try each combo so A+B, then A+C, A+D, etc
It’s nothing Wrong…32 bit windows don’t make use of the full 4 GB…
Like said 32bit just wont take full capabilities of the ram because it will not support it. Make the switch to 64bit you wont regret it.

This is correct. If you using 32 bit it support up to 3.x GB only.
how come my bios says 3gb??
Well it does depend. Maybe a faulty slot if its a 64bit OS. If its 32bit then its reasonable depending on the VRAM as well
I have 6 GB…But look at the image bellow:
yeah i know that but my bios says 3gb when it should say 4gb installed
If it’s 2×2 dual channel kit then there’s something pretty wrong there. If it’s a 4×1 kit then it either is a bad slot or the stick itself doesn’t work. It should get detected fully in the BIOS always. What’s the motherboard and type of RAM you got?
was’nt pushed in proply
nothing rong with the hardware or software or anything mate.. with vista 32bit only can read up to 3 gb of ram dw mate therese nothing rong with ur comp .

So I take it works fine now?
You should make a note to check the seatings of all components first.

maybe there is, the BIOS doesnt interface much with the OS and therefore, should read all the sticks. Try my suggestion above firstly with the A’s & B’s
i pushed it in and works fine now
thanks for help
