Slow internal network speed

August 18th, 2013

My computer is attached directly to the router and of course can download at full speed (around 600 megabytes/sec. I only have a 600 line)
My other computer is hooked up wirelessly in another room, and still has full speed downloads. (600)
The problem is when I try to transfer files from computer to computer, I get speeds of around 80-90 kbps. Yes you read it right.
I’ve tried several tweaks from different websites and they didnt do anything.
Any other tips I could try to get fast networking speeds??

Answer #1
Make sure your router firmware is up to date.
If it supports DD-WRT firmware, I recommend flashing that on there.
Also, how are you transferring the files? It might not be network issue.
Answer #2
How are you transferring the files, by what setup, please be more specific in that regards,
thanks.
Answer #3
Transferring files just using explorer.
In windows 7 I am úsing the “homegroup” network setup wizard.
Answer #4
I found on some techie website that its the win7 Homegroup feature that makes it all slower. I deleted my homegroup and configured file sharing myself. Now I am gettin 785 kbps. 10 times faster than before.
