Seeking h264 within VLC (SOLVED)

August 6th, 2016

Ive been watching some movies in VLC with the h264 codec, after an hour or so Ill stop watching, close things down. Ill go back to watch it and “jump” to the 1hr mark (or where-ever it was left) but it wont resume, just sticks. Ive done this via the slider bar to advance forward in the movie but nothing seems to happen.
Anyone know any better progs to run h264 files with, or a workaround for this annoyance?

Perhaps you need to get better codecs. You can use Media Player Classic to play the movies. You can get it here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/Media_Player_Classic_download.htm
Also try increasing your Page File capacity. Click on Start–>My Computer (right click)–>Properties–>Advanced–>Settings(under performance)–>Advanced–>Change. There just increase the PF value. Good luck mate^^

Thanks for the suggestions, page file didnt do anything, I installed the coreav codec – nothing. original media player plays the files “freeze free” which is what I wanted and great, some had sound issues (had to download ac3 codec), only gripe is there’s a few files mwp classic wont play, namely the movies Dune and Click. The sound plays but no picture. Do you think its a codec issue, but these play fine in VLC both pic and sound (though you cant seek in it)
Suggestions?

From experience K-Lite Mega Codec pack is awesome. Just make sure you uninstall any previously installed codec packs to avoid conflicts between codecs. You can get the codec pack here:

Once you install it try Media Player Classic again. Good luck mate^^
