Sector Boot with problems
July 31st, 2016
I think that i damaged the Sector Boot, so i would like to know if is possible to solve this problem or i must buy a new Hard Disk. Cheers:
What OS are you trying to install?
With XP/Vista you boot the CD/DVD (after changing the BIOS Boot Order to CD) to start the installation process. It asks where you want to install it, and if you want to format the drive/partition first. Once installed it should work fine. Then change the BIOS Boot Order back to HDD.
Edit: If you have an old DOS boot disk (that contains FDISK), you can always boot it and try:
FDISK /MBR
is the partition a primary and is it active ? needs to be both to boot
have you deleted & re-created the partition with the OS disk ?
boot your XP CD & try “fixboot” from the repair console
get hiren’s boot CD (it’s in AIO section), boot from it and try some of the partition apps on that
or get the utility the drive make has
I try to install Windows XP, Mac OS X for x86 and the problem is the same. It accept to install the files and when i change the bios configuration to boot from Hark Disc, to complete the process, it doen’t boot. Give an error that, there is not a bootable disk.

Is not necessary to use the XP disk to make a primary and active partition, i did it with Acronis Disk Director Suite 10. It is a great tool to manage disk. I already try to reinstall XP but it never boot.
About acronis
http://www.acronis.com/
Is not necessary to use the XP disk
huh !
thot u said Acronis screwed your disk
so the disk is primary and active, you check it to be sure
or to be sure use the XP disk instead. what you got to lose

Probably acronis damaged my boot sector i guess. Because i formated my disk too many times. So i would like to know if is possible to give back my boot sector.
It is not acronis problem, acronis is a big tool, it was my fault
Acronis enable me to active all partition that i want or convert to primary or secondary. So i installed first XP and after that i confirmed in the acronis and it was primary and active (the normal), because XP CD only format as prmary, one active and the others primary…
