Rooting and flashing new ROM on my Android phone

August 4th, 2016

Hi. I want to update my HTC Sensation Z710e to android 4.4 Kitkat. Since it’s not officially supported I figured I’ll have to do it myself. I researched few things and found I need to root and then flash the ROM.
I want to use this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530073 My phone is completely on stock ROM provided by HTC i.e. Android 4.0 ( It was OTA update )
I’ve never rooted my phone before and this will by first time of experimenting with it.
I need a step by step tutorial on how to install that ROM on my phone. Like I said I’m a noobie here Thanks in advance.

Okay. Thanks. But how do I flash the ROM ?
Also just by rooting will be able to install custom ROMs ? And what is S-Off ?

Install latest CWM using previous method or you may use ROM manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager
after installing cwm, go to recovery menu, choose ‘install zip from sdcard’ and then select your rom (i.e. cm-11-20140217-Sultan-pyramid.zip file)
it should start installing.
P.S. You won’t need to root if you install the rom you mentioned in the OP as it is pre-rooted.
You may need to unlock bootloader of your device.
6. Register in HTCdev.com website, choose Unlock Bootloader, choose your device and follow the instructions. ~This May Void your Warranty~

actually the CWM is kind of buggy with 4.3+ roms. 4EXT recovery is better
you’re best option would be to head over to xda-developpers, they have guides on how to root on just about every device. This kind of stuff doesnt really belong on a forum
