retrieving partition -solved-

August 6th, 2016

I had a hard disk partitioned in 2; a smaller part for win xp, and the larger part for other files (mp3, games etc)
after reinstalled the window on the small partition (yes i chose the small partition during the xp installation/choice of drive), but somehow the larger part is now seen as ‘unpartitioned’… (it wasnt formatted during the installation)
is there a way to make it working again as it was before? that is retreiving the previous partition data/files? as it hasnt been formated :/
thanks

Answer #1
if the bigger partition is D:
in command prompt (win+r –> cmd)
Type: chkdsk D: /x /f
Answer #2
get “active boot disk” in apps section
burn & boot from it and run the partition recovery app and see what it finds
for so other options google “restore lost partition”
Answer #3
What was ur previous file sys (NTFS/FAT) ? If it was NTFS, then format un-partition space with NTFS otherwise format it with FAT. Then Install Get Data Back For NTFS/FAT. Now u’ll be able to recover all ur lost data.
NB: Just Format the un-partition space do not write anything in that drive.
Answer #4
There is a program called TestDisk for recovering lost partitions.
