Recommended movie sizes

Is it true that there really isn’t a point in posting movies here that are like over 2+ GB as most people have no interest in downloading 3 or more parts from a film? That is the feeling I have gotten so far. Should I still to significantly smaller sizes? Although those have been hard for me to find
Depend really. Some like small files some like big files. I personally would download the biggest file with the least split. If I had an option between 5gb movie split multiple rar or 10gb single rar. I just download the single 10gb xD
Also notice. Not many people have high speed internet and out of those. Not many have unlimited data. Usually an few hundred of GB per month so they seem to look for the smallest size with highest clarity.
Problem is most of tracker sites only have over 2G+ movies which need to be split:/
There is a good selection of movies right here at WBB
Rick I meant for purposing of posting here lol.
I got confused when you mentioned tracker sites – my head went to torrents lol
I think you will find that the 700-900M files provide excellent quality video (depending upon the encode obviously) and ok sound (AAC, not DTS for example).
There are some people that will download the huge files because they want to keep a movie in their library – many want the movie just to watch it once and that’s it. (I fall into the later category) Once a movie is watched, then toast.
There seems to me that there are four common buckets:
– 600-900M
– 1G-2G
– 4G-6G
– 6G+
Maybe try uploading the same movie in all four categories and see which one is most popular. That will give you some idea of where you want to spend your time.
I hear ya, and yeah I did mean torrents, isn’t that where most people initially get the movies anyway?
Not me and as this isn’t a torrent discussion, I won’t comment on that. We don’t want the topic to run off to the inevitable “torrent or not to torrent”
Top posters arent waiting in line for DVD’s to come out :p Spending hundreds upon hundreds simply to share lol.
Even a torrent has to have the first file to start.
Often you see rips come out the weekend before they hit store shelves on Tuesday (in NA in any case). The warehouse / stock rooms obviously have them available before then … now if you knew someone that had access …
But this is back to ‘where do files come from’. I thought the question here was what size should you create to max the download volume.
Hi all,
Is it true that there really isn't a point in posting movies here that are like over 2+ GB as most people have no interest in downloading 3 or more parts from a film? That is the feeling I have gotten so far. Should I still to significantly smaller sizes? Although those have been hard for me to find
Yes and no.. it depends.. (sorry to be so vague).
Some people download ONLY full dvd/blu dumps – the full 4.5G or 25+G
Some, even if they have unlimited, go for more manageable sizes – 2 to 4.5G.
Other prefer a smaller size for qucik downloading and many to a data dvd.
My favourite sizes are the 1G to 2G and maximum of one DVD is size – I don’t want to waste an expensive dual layer on a film, and I’d rather not waste time downloading something that might turn out to be crap.

The other thing that “depends” is the genre of film – a drama or comedy, light action, all OK at “yify” size of 1 to 2 gig.
When you get high action, you want a higher bitrate = larger size = 4G..
So – to answer your question: Yes, there IS a point, but you’re also limiting the number of downloads and your “piracy market”.
If you really wanted to maximise your “customers”, upload a large file and a 1.5 gig recode.

As for sizes, the splits don’t really matter.
With IDM, it splits a file into separate segments AND can download more than one file at a time.
So, 1 x 10G with segments would come down about the same speed as 5 x 1G each with (less) segments.
For me, smaller splits mean more chance of finding anther split if the first lot are removed from UL. It’d be annoying to have 9.5 G of a 10 G file only to find that UL removed the damn thing!.
The split may matter depending upon the file host. Some have this thing where files over X size can only be downloaded by paid users.
To answer your question, I think you’re right, most people are going for the smaller option
it’s less to download and you’ll get your movie quicker; I believe that’s a safe assumption to make
After all, I wouldn’t use a file host at all; I would just create a torrent.
I know you wanted to post the movies on here, but there’s a multitude of other places that are better suited to sharing media like that
and there are so many problems with filehosting sites that most users won’t even bother with them unless they have to.
I doubt the OP or anyone that “share” really wanted to share man.
Its all about the download counts and the extra income.
Since I started using netflix I became a lot less obsessed with amazing quality rips.. its a nice thing for me since I now have a dedicated plex server with ~2k 700mb-2.5gb hd films that barely has to transcode to stream them to tvs / tablets / phones around the house… If I had a nice 52″ tv it’d be a different story though I guess
If you want to upload 10gig rips to mega.co.nz or so then that would be highly loved and unusual though .. most people only upload the best quality to sites that pay them back for doing so (and in turn send at ~20k/s to people that don’t pay).

Do you know what download speed I get?
A maximum of 40kbps. And mine is not a dialup connection. Its a broadband connection.
Similarly most internet users across the world get low download speeds.
Hence I suggest you upload 300mb or 400mb matroska files. or mp4.
You may even upload 700mb ones. but split it into 3 parts. Since the speed is low, it takes a lot of time to download 700mbs. And if during that long time, the user has to go somewhere or the connection is lost even for a second then the whole download fails.
