Recommend me good FPS (preferably with online play)

October 15th, 2013

Hello folks,
I’m bored and I need some good FPS preferably with online play. It must play fluid on this weakling:
Asus K52N-SX186:
AMD V140 (2.30 GHz) • 1 + 2 (I added) GB DDR3 • 320 GB HDD • DVD±RW DL • 15.6" LED HD (1366 x 768) • ATI Radeon HD 4200

It can be pirate or original game. I thought of COD 1, but I was discouraged by harsh players online there. I have had enough of Battlefield 1942 serial and played it online & Vietnam too. I’m not going there again. Combat Arms too buggy and not my type. I do not like future FPS (sci-fi) unless it’s really, really amazing. So, some good competitive FPS? Straightforward as it can be. Nothing where you must jerk every keyboard button and look at million of gadgets on screen. Something ol’time. I have gaming headset too. So it would be great to use it. And please NO RPG STUFF whatsoever. As pure FPS as it can be and it must run pretty good on at least mid-settings. I’m tired of searching the net for these games. I miss the LAN parties of COD & Battlefield. So any quality, simple games (I mean not to complex)? Mind the specifications of PC! Thanks people, have a nice day or evening or anything. I’m off to sleep.

Answer #1
Unreal tournament 3.
It’s sci-fi yes but it’s one of the best online shooters out there.
Needs skill though, be prepared to take a thumping while you perfect the weapons and play styles.
Answer #2
Team Fortress 2!
Answer #3
Thank you I think I tried UT3 on this weak notebook. It is very slow and I think it would be impossible to be good even at easy level without headaches But I really like Team Fortress 2. Looks really fun and is free to play. I will certainly give it a try. Thanks h4xor555

Answer #5
CS1.6

    – Competitive? Check.
    – Old school? Check.
    – Not sci-fi? Check.
    – Benefits immensely with the help of a headphone? Check.
    – Online? Check.
    – Great for LAN? Check.
    – Small? Check.
    – Can run fine on your grandma’s old computer? Check.

Unreal tournament 3.
Quake Live > Quake 3 Arena > UT2003 > UT2004 > Quake 4 > UT3.
Btw TF2 will eat your PC alive. It’s useless to even try it.

crumbs, you’ve beat me to it.
For that hardware, 1.6 is just about right.
I can’t wait for CS:GO although it looks like crap.

Your opinion is wrong because
a) His computer could never run UT3.
b) UT3 never made it big in the competitive leagues.
Answer #11
a: On low settings it should be good, it’s extremely scaleable .
b: Nobody cares.
c: All completely irrelevant.
Answer #12
a: On low settings it should be good, it's extremely scaleable . You’re expecting way too much. I know all about the flexibility of the U3 engine but that’s not going to work and it’s been confirmed already by the OP.
b: Nobody cares. The OP cares. He wants a competitive game. The UT3 scene is dead. When was the last time you heard ANYTHING about UT3? Never. Not to mention the game is more complicated than previous titles. The OP needs a simple and straightforward game. Also, did I mention lack of server side anti-cheat?
c: All completely irrelevant.No.
