question about DDWRT firmware.

August 5th, 2016

Hi I have a question It said for Image
What does that exactly mean and what does DDWRT do for your router also if I do put dd wrt. Do I just redownload my routers default firmware to go back to the routers firmware if i don’t like ddwrt? Also will it make a router better because I paid $80 for verizon rev I router and they suck worst than my netgear in wireless speed that costed me $40 and that is older so can I use the ddwrt when it comes to the actiontec rev I router to make the wireless better?
EDIT:
I don’t now how to kick people off my network on my NETGEAR router. I have 2 wireless router going one from actiontec(verizon) and one is my NETGEAR one. I can’t kick people of my wireless netgear router so will this firmware allow me to kick people of the netgear? I can kick from the actiontec but not my netgear.

Answer #1
Its trash like the routers it runs on. An EOL Cisco not Linksys device will wipe the floor with any rubbish consumer router, custom firmware or no custom firmware.
VLANS,multiple ssid,Automatic channel scanning for WIFI, Deep packet inspection, NIPS etc etc if you know anything about computers steer clear of any consumer routers or switches because the market is flooded with end of life gigibit/802.11n gear for rediculus prices (48 gigibit port Cisco catylist for 80 bucks, Enterprise Cisco aironet 802.11n access points for 140 bucks etc)
Even if you are clueless about IOS configuration professional will set it up via GUI.
