Do you need to use floppy disk drives to mod the 360 firmware?

No, you just connect the 360 DVD drive to your PC motherboard’s SATA connectors. Then you boot the PC using the 360 drive and a special boot CD which puts it in the right mode, then you just boot into windows and flash the drive with a simple command line tool.
