ps4 optical output audio pass thru pc to 5.1 speakers

August 7th, 2016

hi all been researching this for last 5 hrs and cant find a definate answer so thought id ask here.
what im trying to do is have the surround audio from ps4 go thru my pc to output on my 5.1 pc speakers so i can have both ps4 and pc sound on at once.
i was looking at the creative soundblaster z as it has a optical input but upon further research it apparently doesnt have ability to decode the input so i would have ps4 sound butonly in stereo not the 5.1 i am after.
was wondering if theres a cheap (well cheap ish seeing as i was spending £70 on the soundcard) so i can do this.
thanks for any advice

The only thing you can do with cheap components to have both sounds at the same time, is to have two audio cards and creating a virtual device playing both audio at the same time.
Cheap audio cards(under 100-150€) don’t support multiple inputs in real time…

This is the only exception, but you have to tweak around stuff to work with it. Your best bet may be buying a secondary cheap usb audio card…
