Playing Super Smash Bros Brawl on a Softmodded Wii

I need advice on burning and playing SSBB on a Softmodded Wii.
I’m on the latest version of the Homebrew channel.
My IOS is IOS61.
I use the latest NeoGamma and when I load that it says its running off IOS249.
I’m using the latest cIOS also.
I have a full, working version of SSBB downloaded from here. I use ImgBurn to burn the .iso with a layer break of 2084960 to a Verbatim DVD+R DL disk.
However, I still can’t get the game to work. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a different IOS / cIOS? Do I need a different type of disc?

I made the mistake of burning a couple of games with ImgBurn at x8 speed. Someone told me to try it x4 speed and they play fine now. Is this perhaps where your going wrong?
Also Wii’s have problems with +R disks so if you have any try -R.

I have burned all my copies at x4 speed as you said, and the one I burnt today doesn’t work either.
I get the ‘Disc Read Error 1048’ with each copy, whatever that means.
I will try your advice about -R also. I will buy some tomorrow and see the outcome.

Oh yea make sure ur imgburn isnt in Test mode i once tried to burn sonic unleashed not knowing imgburn has test mode checked it cost me 10+dvd’s because i thought they were all faulty

Yeah it MUST be DVD-R. but i think you can use DVD+R only if you change some settings in imgburn to write as if the disc was DVD-R

SSBB is one of the few games which is on a DVD-DL. the wii needs a firmware patch to read them, which FW are you on?.. I burned a disk last week of SSBB, and it loads perfectly using Neogama. Btw, save the time and money, and buy a external HDD. it’s much easier =P

I do want an external HDD so I can use it as a USB Loader, but I still need a job to actually fund one .
And yes, my ImgBurn isn’t on test mode. I know you have to change the book type when using +R, but you can only change the book type with branded disc drivers from what I can see on ImgBurn, and my driver is an average one I got when I bought the computer. Oh, and I think I’m on 4.1 Firmware at the moment.
As I said, I will buy a pack of 10 DVD-R DL today and burn it. Thanks for more help guys.
