what can i do with it was thinking mabe a private web server with all my files aka photos films music apps ect or should i scrap it or play with linux on it open to idears Thanks

Yes you should as it will happily hum along just fine. I have never regretted going down that path…
Stick smoothwall on it , you will have a tasty firewall solution
