PC Upgrade help

I have a 3.5 years old system that looks something like this after a few upgrades in the early part of this year.
intel i5-2400
Gigabyte H67MA-D2H-B3 Motherboard mATX
GTX 750 Ti
2 x 4 GB ram @ 1600 Mhz
Samsung SSD 840 PRO
Seasonic 520W Bronze
I am going to do another round of upgrade with a planned budget of about $500. I’m thinking of swapping the GTX 750 Ti for the new GTX 970 Gaming G1 but i’m not sure my PSU is enough to drive that GPU at stock. what are my options?
Right now, your best bet is a CPU upgrade, not a GPU upgrade.
You would have to upgrade to the 4 GHZ i7 cpu, and overclock it, you will be highly pleased.

As for the GPU, the reason you are not getting a new one now is because you are waiting for a radeon with hypnix stacked memory or about 10x the memory bandwidth (processing speed) of your current GPU. Of course, if you just want evolution, go right ahead, I’ll be laughing around the corner.
Since I am using a mATX case, would the Asus Z97m with i7-4790k be a good choice? I think I might have to do another round of GPU upgrade some time soon.
Really, if you were to upgrade to an i7, you would have to purchase a new PSU too in order to power your new GPU and CPU, which would leave you very little money for any of those components. I would just hold off on upgrading the i5 for the time being, and purchase a GTX 970.
Then, when more funds come avaliable, I would then upgrade the CPU/PSU/Mobo
Hey, If your thinking about upgrading your GPU i would highly recommend that you upgrade your power supply first to at least a 800+ Watt, and then get your new GPU.
I would also recommend Seasonic power supplies they are simply the best.

A calculator will easily point out that 800W is too much.

If by “best” you mean “overpriced”.

Actually I thought about that too, but I worry my 520W seasonic PSU will not be enough.. can a 520W run a single GTX 970?
^ Yes they are a lot less power hungry than other graphics cards.

looks like I can get the GTX 970 and still have some headroom left.
You’ve must have given wrong input you must land between 500 and 650 W approximately. Make sure you’ve included everything. Also, sometimes the page doesn’t load properly and gives a wrong display. Try at least twice to be certain.
