i have
windows7 ultimate 64x
intel core 2 duo 2.4gz
4gb ram
nvidia geforce 950gt
msi 73-66 p6ngm
Some background prog not closin it seems..
Disable unwanted prog at startup n check whether the same thing happens..
As kevindina mentioned…
Most likely a program is stalling. There are utility tweak programs that will allow for a forced shutdown of applications.
I’m sure there’s a manually registry tweak for doing this as well if you would wish to do a search.
Personally when I’ve had this happen, I just turn the computer off and do a cold boot; never had any issues with data loss or other.
You want fast shutdown? Make a new text file and put this in there:
cd \
shutdown -s -f -t 0
Then rename the file to shutdown.bat (must have show extensions for known file types enabled).
Should shut you down really fast when executed =D

Yeah… for sure, and he could also just enter this in the run box:
shutdown /s /f /t 0
However, one might as well just pull the power plug out of the wall.
EDIT: This posts contains sarcastic humor rated PG13

If you want to type that in every time.
With the bat file you can create a shortcut in the start men.

Not at all, the method I mentioned is a safe shutdown. As long as you have all your work saved everything is fine.
Pulling the plug can possibly damage or destroy your computer hardware.
I forgot that you don’t have a sense of humor Smash. <– *sticks tongue out*
You’ve been hanging around these Brits too much. <– *laughs out loud*
WARNING: This post contains sarcasm which is a type of little known humor, it seems. <– *smiles*
NOTE: Do these notations make it more apparent that there’s a lighter side of things? <– (rhetorical question)
