PC has blue screens like crazy

October 25th, 2013

My computer is having many blue screens recently, I tried formatting my pc but the crashes still happen. I’ve used a Dump analyzer (WhoCrashed) to find out what is causing this and the software tells me that the causes are:
– my driver for my gaming mouse (Razer driver)
– my nvidia driver (driver for 8800GT)
– my usb audio interface driver (m-audio fasttrack pro driver)
– Unknown (????)
So it’s not always the same cause and i’ve tried updating all of those drivers and they are in fact up to date but still having crashes.
I should also mention that my mouse often falls out for a few seconds, I mean, the LEDs goes out, the mouse is unusable and windows plays that sound when disconnecting a usb device. It’s like i would pull the usb out for a few sec and then putting it back in, but i’m not touching anything. This is very annoying when playing games and it also happens more often while in-game.
Could this be related to the blue screens i’m having and could this be the mouse that has hardware failures or is this a software problem?
Could this be that the usb audio interface is demanding too much power from my usb slots?
I have no clue of what this could be so every bit of help is welcome.

Sounds like your PSU, could you give full system specs?
Also, list and major hardware or software (driver) changes/updates you have made.
Plus, there should be some files in your Minidump.
C:\Windows\Minidump

Your mouse could be defective, check it on a different machine. Do one thing remove your mouse and graphics card and then reinstall Windows do some basic activities and see if the problem persuits. Either way I would suspect a RAM failure.

……
The latest nvidia driver doesn’t support the 8800GT, it causes the vram to overheat and crashes/damages the gpu.
you need to roll back to version 260.99
Reason:
GeForce 8 & 9 Series cards were built before 3D Vision was released, they are not entirely compatible with the technology. The controller driver used is completely incompatible with these cards and should not be installed, or it may fry your GPU.

@ smashedr: Ok i’ll try to sum everything up:
– Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz
– Asus P5K motherboard (intel P35 chipset)
– 4GB DDR2
– 380W max Antec Earthwatts PSU
– Nvidia Gefroce 8800GT
– i’m running Windows XP SP3 32 bit
– don’t know if it matters: 2x 1TB HD + CD/DVD writer
need more or other spec, just ask
any major hardware/software updates:
euh I don’t think so, no hardware upgrades or changes and no serious software updates i gues.
here is my minidump folder.

@monolith005: Ok I will try but how do you roll back to 260.99, apperantly i’m on 280.26 but the nvidia site says it’s the right driver for my gpu :s but i will try to remove the update if u tell me how i can do that :p

you did say that your mouse die’s it might be the usb driver that gone bad
does your keyboard die as well?
we didn’t need the minidump file all we needed is the stop error code or the local id#
for the stop error code when the blue screen come there will be a code like this stop error 00000×000 (00000×000 etc)
if the pc restarts before you can write down you can go into Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools and if you remember what time the blue screen came up you can just search for it and then you can get the local id# from there

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
If either software or hardware can cause a particular trap, a debug is required to determine which is the cause. If you suspect a hardware problem, try the following hardware troubleshooting steps:
Test the RAM in the computer by running the diagnostic software that is provided by the computer manufacturer. Replace any RAM that is reported as bad. Also, make sure that all the RAM in the computer is the same speed.
Try removing or swapping out controllers, cards, or other peripherals.
Try a different motherboard on the computer.
If you are over clocking the speed of your processor, set it back to the speed at which it is designed to run.
Check with the hardware vendor for any updated hardware drivers or BIOS updates, or both.
For more information on processor faults, consult an Intel processor reference manual.
