Operating system simulation and test

I have downloaded XP SP3 and W7. I want to test the OS. I know there is a software with which the operating system can be tested without actually installing the OS. I cant remind the name of the software and dont know where to find it. Please Help

Use VirtualBox which is freeware or Vmware workstation which is heavier and needs crack
Virtualbox can be obtained here freely! Weighs like 60MBs unlike Vmware that one is like 600-700MBs

Thanks….. but my upload and download speed is very poor. So its very difficult for me to become a VIP
