Nvidia/AMD Which Card , What RAM ?

July 6th, 2020

Hello , had this question before but since everything changes so fast I wanted to ask some question and I also need pointing out. I have £270 to my disposition. I need a good graphics card and also additional 8GB of RAM.
My friend recommended me the geforce 650 ti boost but it is nowhere to be found.
This is my current system http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=91970
If you could recommend a card that would fit in that price range and so that I could get additional RAM it would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.

hahaha Spend it all on a video card if you have some ram… Using Aus to Pound converter you are slightly out of this cards price range, but I highly suggest you save a little more and buy one of these… GeForce GTX 970
As long as you have say 4GB’s of ram, that will be your best upgrade… Have to put it off a week or two, (money wise) but will be worth it if you are a gamer…. Also have to buy one one from a whole saler and install yourself…
Edit: I read what you posted in pasteall… 8GB’s of ram is sufficient, do what I mentioned if your main purpose is to play games…. Buying that will let your system play games on the highest settings, for the next few months at least….

Actually I can afford the 970 no problem . The problem here is my power supply. http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Graphics-Express-Display/dp/B00NYRDNAK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1439726098&sr=8-2&keywords=geforce+gtx+970+evga

I dont think my power supply will hande any of these 2.
Answer #3
It will work… But didnt notice that lol.. Should also be upgraded… If I was you I would buy a GTX 970, and start saving for a 750 or 850 power supply… As stated it will work, but possibly will cut out, due to lack of power on high end games (set on the highest settings)… Need a few more $$ then stated, but will be much appreciated if you do the GPU upgrade and PSU upgrade stated…. Unless your into graphics design, 3D modeling crap you dont really need more RAM…

Okay so I should get this card. But what side effects will that have. Computer shutting down ? Can you recommend a good power supply ?
**EDIT** Considering I would be left with not much money for the PSU after getting this card. Would this one do http://www.amazon.co.uk/Artic-Rails-Bronze-Supply-Cooling/dp/B009S8K2OY/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1439730444&sr=1-5&keywords=750w+power+supply
Answer #5
Ehhh… You very much should get the Video card.. Until you upgrade the power its possible, but unlikely your comp can shut down unexpectedly… As mentioned, unlikely but possible.. You want a 750 watt – 850 watt power supply… The reason the comp would shut down would be lack of power… Considering your comp the Graphics card is most important, but upgrading the PSU would help…
Didnt read the edit to now, that power supply would be great.. More or less the graphics card + power suply unit would do your comp wonders….
Get the two and after reviewing your specs again, both PSU and GPU will let you play all current games on highest settings… Then the comp will last you 2-4 years…

Your psu will be ok with 1×970. Any of the 970. You can actually get any card you wish, you have enough power(650) and a good brand quality psu. Get the cheaper ram with the same characteristic as the one you have now and spend the rest on the best card you can get. I assume that will be a 970.
Just check that the card you select fits in your case.

find the cheapest 1*8gb or 2*4gb memory at 1600 mhz according to your preference or motherboard memory slot availability, pick your choice from a trusted brand such as corsair , gskill or kingston with the specs mention above. then deduct the price of memory from your budget.
at last tell us the remaining budget solely for gpu then we look what we can do. i didnt look the link you have given but if it is 650W from a reliable brand just as said. your psu can even handle 2 gtx 970 so dont worry.
edit : can you write down your motherboard model here , i have problem with accessing that specs link. if your motherboard is old and does not support 1600mhz , we even can go for a cheaper memory.
