New gaming PC

August 2nd, 2016

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone knows any good places to find decent pc build recommendations for a new gaming desktop or has any recommendations of their own. I want to spend around $2000 NZD excluding storage, cheers
Answer #1
tell me the ratio between us $ and new zealand $ , and i can suggest something
also do you also want a monitor with your budget or just case ?
Answer #2
Do you need peripheral and OS? And last question you only do gaming and nothing more complex? Anw this should give you a start
NZXT Technologies H440 Mid Tower
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 if you plan pn doing sli later or if you will have 1 card get XFX PRO 550W
MSI Z97 Gaming 7 or any other good Z97 motherboard
intel i7 4790k or if there is no budget left and you only do gaming and no video encoding/editing/streaming/recording get a i5 4690k
HyperX FURY Series 8GB or 16gb if there is budget to spare
Noctua NH-D15 or nh-u14S if you need to save some $
wd blue 1tb
Crucial mx100 256 gb or Samsung SAM 850 Pro 256gb if there is budget to spare
a gigabyte/asus/msi/ega 980 that it’s stock at your store or a 970 if no money left
That’s a general direction cause i have no clue how expensive hardware is there so do the math and tell me at what price you are with what parts and i will see what we can edit if you wish. Pm me to notice if you need help.
Good luck mate.

1 NZD = 0.786239 so what you look is between 1500-1600 us$ i will say a few common things with . lets start with gpu , gtx 980 is certainly which u should buy , since it is new , some brands have problems with its first production series , i suggest this which i also personally bought
http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/STRIXGTX980DC2OC4GD5/
after that i can offer you 2 builds , one for z97 chipset other is for x99 chipset
z97 1- motherboard
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_RANGER/ this has everything that a gamer needs but it lacks wi-fi and bluetooth thing if u need them.
2- cpu

3- memory

4- psu
http://www.corsair.com/en/ax860i-digital-atx-power-supply-860-watt-80-plus-platinum-certified-fully-modular-psu
x99
1-motherboard
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X99A/
2- cpu
http://ark.intel.com/products/82932
3- memory

4- psu same with above.
second one would be more costly but it is newer tech, but personally i would prefer first build. i didnt mention about case since it depends on needs , and personal taste but since u r looking for gaming pc , its better to have full tower , i personally own this
http://www.corsair.com/en/graphite-series-760t-full-tower-windowed-case it is a worthy case.
i didnt mention about storage since u exclude it , but for ssd samsung 850 pro is currently the best and the most expensive drive , i would recommend ocz vector 150 series after it , also it shouldnt be forgot that samsung 840 evo and pro both had dramatically price drop since 850 series came out. for normal harddrive , WD caviar black is the one you should go calculate the cost of these builds from available shops to you , total cost should be in your price range

Price valid til 9pm Black Friday sale.
I usually buy lots of stuff from PBtech, they usually have too many customers, so just order online.
The buggered thing about being in NZ is that our dollar isn’t worth much and the market is too small.
The result is you can’t really get the stuff those guys mentioned.

Ok after linked this site i checked and did my changed on his build.
OK prices are high so we need to go down a bit. I Agree with most stuff but this is my few changes cause you don’t need 16gb of ram to game, or a z97 motherboard for a locked processor neither 750w for a single card and i find the box too expensive compared to the other parts.

Also i would suggest you go find a better headset if needed from some other shop. I don’t like anything there.[/code]

Hey thanks heaps guys for the help, I’ll have a good look into the reccomendations and see where that takes me, thanks again
Answer #7
No need for good coolers in NZ, temps top at 35 degrees celsius.
On rare occasions maybe 38. I only went watercooling to cut down maintenance and noise.
It helps a bit, but hard drives are also noisy.
I used solid gel pads on them.
NZ’s relative humidity is higher, so its no biggy.
Playtech has guys that are easier to deal with and better parts, but their prices are 10% more.
ExtremePC isn’t too bad, they take care of their customers.
Computer Lounge are utter eggheads, at least make sure the customer is happy before he throws down the cash.
This is for price checks and maybe you can haggle if its a physical store, price match. http://pricespy.co.nz/

ah , my mistake then i didnt think the prices that high in NZ , so people who live at NZ can give more realistic recommendations. but as for “gaming” pc you mentioned , i strongly suggest that to buy at least gtx970 so it can endure more through time. maybe u can cut your budget for other things , for example buy 8 gb memory then u can add 8 later.
