Need help building a PC

March 6th, 2018

Well, im buying the computer parts at http://www.ncix.com.
Im from Canada btw.
I need to build a building that can run the current games like Crysis, Call of duty, Far Cry 2 etc.
Im willing to spend around $1000
Can somebody just tell me the parts to add to the shopping cart. Starting from the computer case, thanks.

Answer #1

this cost $927.098
if you want it to be assembled its an extra 50 bucks
Answer #2
sorry but i forgot the power supply just pick one thats above 500W or more
Answer #3
actually you didnt forget, a PSU is already included in the case you picked up
but i would take this motherboard instead ,its cheaper and just as good IMO
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=30906&vpn=GA%2DEP45%2DDS3L&manufacture=Gigabyte , the dvd-rom can be dropped you really dont need more then 1 optical drive nowadays,if you wanna make
copies of existing cds/dvds making disc images is the better way,now after all
the savings i’d change the processor to Q6600
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22211&vpn=BX80562Q6600&manufacture=Intel
also it will be a good idea to add another 120mm fan (case only comes with 1)
do note that intel just launched its new core i7 processors
i think its worth to wait a lil while and get one of those
Answer #4
i think its worth to wait a lil while and get one of those
it may be worth it but remember the hefty price tag they will be out on. You can wait a bit till it drops like all stuff do or if you cant wait then go for it. BTW will post back soon with my suggestion
Answer #5
whoops didnt read it that it does have one :S
Answer #6

yep your right,i just checked on newegg and the core i7 920 (the cheapest one
of the bunch) costs 319$ (392 CAD) , and it also needs an x58 based motherboard and these are very expensive

its for those hard out gamers or server runners. ITs expensive i say so you should wait till it comes down. For now this is what i came up with totaling $1,000.69. 69c over your budget i know but well…..

Answer #9
heres my take on those specs, raidmax arent known for good quality PSUs
i’d take the original antec case^
for 10$ more , other then that you forgot to add a dvd burner which is essential, set those aside it looks good
Answer #10
well if Firehawk wants, i can get a build on Newegg Canada (yes they have one)which will be cheaper with a greater variety
Answer #11

Answer #12

Answer #13
well heres the new build from Newegg. Personally i find Newegg cheapest internationally

Answer #14
Well I came up with this.
Costs $833.47
EDIT: The computer is out of stock can somebody help me pick another one?

Answer #15
this is a better one, noted below why
case with psu: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=24294&vpn=SONATA%20III%20500&manufacture=ANTEC / 140 CAD
motherboard: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=30906&vpn=GA%2DEP45%2DDS3L&manufacture=Gigabyte 117.48 CAD after rebate
processor: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22211&vpn=BX80562Q6600&manufacture=Intel
248.83 CAD
ram : http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23895&vpn=996587&manufacture=MUSHKIN
70.18 CAD after rebate
gfx: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=33502&vpn=4850PE3512V&manufacture=Diamond
184.99 CAD after rebate
hd: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=34286&vpn=WD6401AALS&manufacture=Western%20Digital%20WD
99.99 CAD
totals at 861.47,not including a dvd burner (well you didnt include it
in yours so i assume your gonna move the current to the new pc) the psu here is way better, raidmax psus are crap
the processor is QUAD core,in your specs its a DUAL core
the ram have tighter timings (better performance)
and the hd is bigger (640gb)
Answer #16
Hmm but I want a case with cool neons + lights and stuff
I also need a CD drive to install games.
Answer #17
so did i way back, til i actually got one , it hurted my eyes so disconnected
the lights , anyways its upto you whether you want a case that comes with a QUALITY PSU or not , a quality psu is very important, using a crappy one
is risking total loss,a cheapo psu can easily fry out all parts if/when it will go down (no protections) ,not to mention it might not be good enough to hold this powerful system, believe me there is a major diffrence between a cheapo 500w psu to a quality one,not all psus are same, just like humans in a way  , if you gotta have a flashy case with lights then your better off buying the case and psu in seperates but that will be more expensive
i guess i can come up with some suggestions if its really a must, but take my word for it , you think lights will be cool now,but just wait til youll sit next to em for hours over hours everyday, no fun im tellin ya,besides hurting the eyes
it can be very distracting,go with this dvd burner

So, if I buy the $140 case, its cheaper then to buy another case + a power supply?
Also, what about heatsinks, and sound card?
Answer #19
yes,you get a solid case with a high quality psu at a bargain price
as for heatsinks, the processor comes with intel’s original cooler
which should be good enough unless you plan on overclocking
all motherboards in the last 8-9 years have onboard audio
and this one is no exception, heres an image of the back connectors btw

O ok, so I don’t need to worry about the heat sink and sound card? (Im not going to overclock)
And for the CD drive, I don’t need a fancy one. Im not going to burn stuff, I just need it to install games and apps.
Answer #21
nope,as you can see in the images the motherboard have a few heatsinks to cool off what needs to be cooled and as said intels originall cooler is included with the processor, it shouldnt be too loud and
the onboard audio is very good , maybe not audiophile
grade but its good enough for most ppl,do note that because
creative owns the rights to eax 3/4/5 (audio effects for games) only creative sound cards and some of auztentech’s (now owned by creative)
supports it, so others supports upto eax 2,if your a hardcore gamer
and got good speakers then i guess you could somewhat benefit from 3/4/5
but even without it its not gonna ruin your gaming expirence,as for the burner
this is pretty much the price point, first of im sure you dont really mean that
you will have to burn stuff every now and then (unless you plan on networking this new pc with your older one and copy data to it and burn from there, but its too much of a bother IMO) , some dvd burners are 4-7$ cheaper but thats as far as it goes,LG have excellet rep in burners,a dvd-rom can be found for 15-20$ less but you wouldnt be able to burn anything with it not to mention the price diffrence is very slim

Yea ok, I don’t need 7.1 surround sound, im planning to buy 2 speakers + a sub woofer.
Heres my current list.

Answer #23
thats good enough, eventho its 7.1 it can work just fine with 2.1 aswell
do you have any specific speakers in mind or need a recommendation?
anyways let me know if you have any more questions,i’d be happy to answer em

Answer #25
Pretty much all the builds posted here are good.
Answer #26
I hear on the reviews the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 and
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Dual Core Processor LGA775 3.0GHZ Wolfdale 1333FSB 6MB Retail
Is about the same, plus the Duo one comes with Far Cry 2

yep , another thing,im not sure if you added the image in your previous post by an edit or it just didnt load a few minutes ago from some reason,i only
saw it now , i must point out that the motherboard you picked is based on the older p43 chipset, the one i picked is based on the newer p45
EDIT regarding the prccessors,q6600 is QUAD core
the othe one have only 2 cores so its defintly better

k thanks, I will post the list again, also does it really make a difference for a $10 more mother board?
EDIT: Heres my current list $923.01

Answer #29
it looks good altho you could have picked an sata dvd-rom
but it doesnt matter that much, theres only one thing that bugs me
are you 100% sure you dont need a dvd burner? how are you gonna manage without one?
its essential IMO,you do need to clear the HD from stuff to free up space every now and then and what a better way to do it then burn & delete and when you need to burn an audio cd or dvd to watch in the living room dvd player
HD space isnt infinite,i filled my 500gb in just 4 months and had to burn
loads of stuff to free up space, you always think its gonna be big enough
but it never is , the diffrences between p43 and p45 are minor (p45 is better for overclocking)
altho your not planning on doin that , it could come handy one day
besides with the rebate its about the same price as the other board

Alright, can you post the stuff that I need to make my system perfect?
Also is the EVGA GeForce 9800 GT Video card better then the other one?
Answer #31
your last build was fine, well except it had a dvd-rom and not a burner
which i still think is essential,i’d replace the dvd-rom with this burner
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=31940&vpn=GH22LS30%20BLACK&manufacture=LG%20Electronics , but if you still insist on goin dvd-rom (cant imagine why)
then you might wanna consider gettin this one instead
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26375&vpn=DVD-E616A3T&manufacture=ASUS
altho theres barely a diffrence between this one and the other dvd-rom you
picked, sata is just better for the case airflow and its only a few $ more
the 4850 is a better performer
