Motherboard info?

August 7th, 2016

I’m not too knowledgeable about stuff like this, but I was wondering if my Motherboard could use a GTX 460, and what newer processors would work with it.
I got a MCP61PM-AM.

shouldn’t buy a gtx 460 for a config (based on this mobo), although it’ll support it…
tell your complete config… not much newer processors will work with it as it has AM2 socket
the ones here with AM2 socket will work (NOT AM2+, AM2+ will work but with some limitations on speed (HT etc) – even I dont know much)

Link to un-official info on motherboard specs if anyone needs it:

While your RAM can run up to DDR2 800 and the Graphics Card slot is a good PCI-E x16, you wont get very far with the CPU. Its stuck on a AM2, which you wont find many decent processors on. newegg only has one kind of AM2 left:

Thouh you could try using an AM2+ there, im guessing the chances of it working would be low. Even if it did, it would be limited since some features in AM2+ motherboards aren’t present in yours

Don’t bother upgrading, save up more money
and you can bet that you can buy a custom computer
that can run all games and do anything you need
for less than 1000 dollars.
Answer #4
If your willing to spend less, a 5670 should do the trick.
