Monitor and Fix packet loss

August 3rd, 2016

Hello guys,
I’m a Counter Strike GO player, and while playing online, from time to time, I get high PING which is very annoying. I thought it may be packate losses during the game, but is there a way to check this? and if packet loss is causing the high ping, what would the fix of this problem be? I tried two different routers and it’s the same!

Answer #1
Maybe you have other programs taking too much bandwidth. If there are problems and you don’t have other applications accessing Internet then it’s a Internet provider fault and apart from calling support there is not much that you can do about it.
Answer #2
It’s 100% not a local problem, cause I’ve bought a router limting all the speed usage, and also tried connecting directly, didn’t help :/

if you don’t know how to check packet loss, then you don’t know if it your first hop from your system
It could be a local problem.
Run this
http://www.pingtest.net/
what is the ip address of the game server you playing that has your high ping?
this example is checking the ping and packet loss to google dot com

No packet loss, ping is bouncing, but I am uploading at the same time
Your game server ip do this
start
run
cmd
ping -t 196.168.1.100 I used random ip, use the game server ip
what would the fix of this problem The logical answer would be the game server. Try game server closer to where you live and
not one far away.

Hi,
Are you on DSL or cable internet? DSL has a known issue of throttling speeds during peak times. Using a wireless connection can affect speeds (not recommended), and some times it could just be a cable (cat6 is the best for cross tasking). Is your IP static (fixed) or it a randomly changing (renews 7-14 days)? So many variables can cause ping levels…cable boosters can even effect speeds some times. Also you could ask your provider to swap out your modem…some times they provide a different updated model to new customers.
