August 29th, 2013

I need help! I have computer (win 7 x64), Ps3, and 3D Panasonic plazma. I connected Ps3 and computer ( same IP on both, can I do different? ) with media server.
Now I have 2 problems:
1. I can watch almoust everything except mkv movies ( now I have 3D avatar BR-rip and Hangover also BR-rip) they have more than 4G.
2.Second problem is subbtitles, I want my language subbtitles or english but I can’t do nothing with mkv file ( I dont want to wait ), somebody told me if I put str file in same folder with mkv and put it over media server it will work…

the ps3 doenst support mkv, even through streaming . i got tired of converting so now just stream (from my desktop) to my laptop which i then plug into the tv.
Answer #5
most files i download end up being .avi and converting takes just a few minutes for me so it aint exactly waiting.
you could try buying a proper media server
Answer #6
ok does anyone know how to mount subtitles (lets say str. file) on mkv file (fast version)
Answer #7
If the subtitle file is named exactly the same as the video file(except for the extension) and in the same folder, then most players will play them OK..So try that.

tnx I’ll try that, so I downloaded hangover 2 BR-rip 1080p name is “s7-hangover2.1080.mkv” and subtitle must be “s7-hangover2.1080.srt” ?
at this moment I am trying mkvmerge GUI but I have problems, black screen no movie

The PS3 doesn’t support MKV playback.
Remember that MKV files are a type of container file, not a raw video. The PS3 media player simply cannot extract and stream the files.
Either convert/compress the MKV into a different file format, or find a different way to stream content to your television.
A list of supported file formats can be found here:
