laptop shutdown problem

hi, im having an issue turning off my laptop, what happens is occasionally it freezes whilst turning off showing a black screen and i either end up having to hold down the power button or cut the power. it happened yesterday, so i left it on and went out for about 4 hours, came back and it was still frozen, so im guessing its not just the laptop running slowly, my model is a “hp envy m6 notebook”, so im wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is, need any more details let me know, thanks in advance

Is your laptop ready for windows 8 ?
for me also after a recent update of os the laptop is shutting down in a diffrent way like the screen goes black and then it power off’s
after few moments so i guess its windows 8 feature
check if your laptop supports windows 8 cheers

um i guess so, i bought it readily installed with windows 8 n all, sorry im not too great with computers n stuff, i happen to have a service pack update ready so im trying that to see if it changes anything, fingers crossed
