Clean the fan, and make sure you ain’t blocking it.
Sounds like over heating to me aswell, get yourself a cooling pad

what a coincidence!!.me,myself also own HP laptop(Pavillion 2008tx)..yeah my laptop also shut off itself when i playing Sims 3 last time..i noticed mine can not handled when i played quite high graphic games..yes it overheated and this is the news..one month later i experienced click of death..i am really frustrated which i advise you to explore any problem with you cooling system..(i add fuel on fire the problem when i am not thinking using laptop on a pillow)
My guess would also be overheating, run Everest Ultimate and see what temperatures it reports
