Answer #1
That is a lot of memory, but are you sure it takes the same amount of memory all the time, or were you just scanning or doing an other performance with the program that might have caused the great amount of memory that is being used at the time.
Answer #2
I was only doing a Full System scan .
Plus there wasnt any other programs in the background i closed everything like FireFox,Chrome , idm, yahoo , msn
Answer #3
You could try switching over to a lighter and a lesser resource-intensive AV. Just a suggestion.
Answer #4
That’s one of the problems with Kapersky. In your case it looks like a memory leak or something. You could ask on their forum for fixes as well.
If you want to try something light on resources, people say NOD32 is supposed to be fast.
Answer #5
This is why Avast pwns all other AV’s. Period.
Answer #6
Try another AV or don’t use 1
Answer #7
Scanning takes ram “Full System scan” is the most intensive option. Every AV uses more ram when doing a full system scan
Answer #8
i really hate kaspersky .. always trouble or does something bad .. i use bitdefender and it works fine for me
Answer #9
Kaspersky has always worked wonders for me. I’ve never really had an issue with the amount of RAM it uses during a full system scan since I’m never using the computer while it’s doing it. I also have 8GB of RAM, so it probably wouldn’t bother me either way.
Answer #10
Try some other AV’s like Avira or Avast. They consume very little resources. I use Avira and here’s a screen shot during a scan:

Answer #11
My Kaspersky is at 42,000 K when it’s running, I don’t know what’s going on with your comp… try installing Kaspersky Internet Security, it’s a step up from the anti-virus version, it has anti-virus built into it, plus it has the technology to block any virus which tries to make its way into your computer
Answer #12
You said u were doing a scan, of course its memory usage is going to be high. But 1gb ram? that is a bit much though.
Answer #13
Kaspersky is ~love~ this days and so is ESET. Only things i trust Avira + Comodo Firewall + SuperAntiSpyware + Malwarebytes. All freeware and light weight
My guess you used cracked av? Or you have virus? Something causing huge leak of RAM for sure.
Answer #14
Lol yeah Kaspersky always made my PC feel kinda slow especially when installing and opening programs that’s why I unistalled it and moved to ESET.
ESET Security is fine for me.
I also use some other freeware programs on the side.
Answer #15
Mine is averaging 50-70k on a full scan, hell firefox uses twice as much memory as the full scan is using atm lol.
Answer #16
Kaspersky has the most powerful virus detection and removal technique. Trust me I have personally compared it against bitdefender, avira, and nod32. They don’t hold a candle to kaspersky. The RAM problem is probably something at your end. Just restart system and run the scan again.
Answer #17
If you dont download viruses, then chances are you wont need an anti-virus.
Also, get some addons for your browser like Mcafee`s Site advisor, or even WOT, (web of trust) and just stay away from dodgey websites.
Anyway, why not just use malwarebytes and scan every thing you download? Its lightweight and im pretty sure its good.
Answer #18
This topic has been posted in the wrong section.
Moving.

Answer #19
And that’s why we love NOD32 (ESET smart security)

Well, you forgot to mention ekrn.exe (the core program, and that consumes 55MB+ of memory). 🙂
Check ‘show processes from all users’ for ekrn.exe to show up. Here’s mine:
