I like the fact that it’s waterproof and has nice matching color with yellow and black. It has that mini pci slot near the graphics card if I wanted to add wifi/bluetooth or maybe I can put in those mini pci ssd.
Well Idk about the color but it has one of the best chipsets on it so if you want performance and can afford it go for it.
It’s a great mb and as long as its compatible with your parts your good to go.
Waterproof it is not. It just repels a certain amount of fluid for a short period of time from the mobo.
It’s only the mobo. Your cpu and other components are not protected so saying waterproof is just a marketing gimmick.
Colours – well that is a personal thing.
I’m not sure the price is that special – it’s pretty much the going street price (at least where I am).
Its on sale right now that is the only reason I am asking if its a good mb for me to get.

I know it only provides water resistance to the motherboard and not other parts, I still like the color scheme to it.Never had an ASRock so dont know how is their quality are. If you like the color then go for it man. Dont worry much about those “waterproof” or water resistance. Even if you watercool. You should be testing for leak anyways
Wouldn’t buy Asrock motherboards, had too many returns due to motherboard warping after placing the CPU cooler on it, let alone an aftermarket one.
Hurts business, got so bad we don’t stock them anymore.
Thicker PCB is a plus and that is not happening as Asrock is mainly Asus’s entry level division.
Waterproof is meaningless if the other components are not.
i dont know what your cpu is but i wouldnt buy z87 chipset since there is new z97 chipset for intel socket 1150 , supports 4 generation i3-i5-i7 and the 5th generations will be out. as some say since asrock once was part of asus and still closely related , and other says it just takes the advantage of asus prestigious name. it is better you buy from bigboy which is asus
i can recommend this for your needs like overclocking except wi-fi

if u look for wi-fi and additional features , this one , although it is really expensive compared to other one

I don’t really like need wifi as I will be using a lan power adapter kit and if I wanted I can just get a pci or usb wifi adapter.

Has z97 chipset and I will only need 1 gpu support which is my Nvida Geforce 660 twin frozr 2. I am pairing that board with an intel I5-4590.

if you have a limited budget

this is a very good motherboard , also supports your cpu , unfortunately there is no option like , “i want 1 gpu support and give me a cheaper motherboard” , almost all atx motherboards supports at least 2 way sli or crossfire. but the motherboard above is good , basic , solid without any unnecessary extras which many wouldnt use and also increase the price.
if budget is not a problem

this is the card u should buy , although there is not much difference in terms of specifications with the asus z97-A , this board have better engineering and also far better material used on it , which increases durability and also increases the transfer rate of any kind data and voltage etc.. , also a better soundcard ofc
edit : you also said your cpu is i5-4590 , you cant overclock it unless it is i5-4590K , where K means unlocked

I do have a set limit under $500 for a motherboard but I don’t want to just buy an expensive motherboard for no reason. I have no interest in OC the cpu, gpu, and ram. I like to leave everything at stock as possible because I can see no point in it so an unlocked cpu won’t give me any advantage. How about this?

Z97 chipset
2 way sli or 3 crossfire
killer e2200 gaming network(which is suppose to be very good for gaming but I don’t care about that)
I always hated the ps2 ports on mb and I don’t see why some motherboards still have them. I doubt anyone still uses ps2 mouse and kb.
if you have asked me 10-15 years ago i would tell you that there is a difference between asus and other as much as the difference between gold and iron , in terms of durability and quality , but now every brand came to an achievement level in terms of technology. i always used asus motherboard with 1 exception , i bought a gigabyte board 10 years ago cuz it was cheaper , its shape became curved due to heat lol so i cant make any comment about the current condition of msi boards or other brands. but as a person who still follows tech news , articles and benchmarks closely and regularly , i can say asus still 1 step ahead of others in terms of material quality and general durability which is product’s lifetime. but actual people who use these brands would give you a better insight. also i dont have any knowledge on refubrished hardware’s disadvantages and advantages , some of the links you have given before including that kind of hardware
i recently bought a motherboard with the same perspective of yours. i didnt want any additional extras which could cause additional money , but with 1 exception i do overclocking now this board

is the most basic asus z97 chipset atx motherboard , which will satisfy all your needs with no additional extras.
this one is what i bought
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG_MAXIMUS_VII_RANGER/
this is also very basic board , but higher quality , the difference between first one and this , based on your needs.
better sound card , more sata ports , better material and engineering which increases the performance considerably through data transfer rate and durability significantly look at the prices at the places you can buy , and decide for yourself if the price difference worth it for you. also you can scroll down at the links i have given to see full specifications of motherboard , maybe you can find something that could be useful for you
